Humbled!

I participated in the 2025 Ann Arbor Adult Open on Friday, November 7th. I skated probably my best program yet, or at least felt that way. I got a solid fourth place… The first place winner was an amazing skater. She had grace, beautiful and high level skills and just generally an amazing skater. A level of skater that blows my mind that they are skating pre-bronze.

I was very disappointed in myself. I see where I should be and I am not there. I skate insane amounts and yet I haven’t become that beautiful skater that I want to become.

The first place skater was probably in her early 20’s. Which means I have decades of skating experience on her. At the same skating level, there shouldn’t be that much difference. There was.

I am going to refocus myself on cleaning up my skating. This was not ok with me. I don’t mind losing, when competitive. I don’t want to rely on the fact that I can jump higher. Which, yeah, I can.

So, I will get back to the drawing board, maybe take some ballet and see where we end up.
